Wozzer the temperature has rocketed up here on the farm

Wozzer the temperature has rocketed up here on the farm and with scarcely a drop of rain for more than 6 weeks now the ground is starting to dry up.
It’s really obvious which parts of the farm and fields have had plenty of muck and compost. They are able to hold moisture. Those areas are surviving the hot dry conditions but some parts of the farm are very dry.
This weather means that some crops race ahead and others stall and can’t cope with the conditions. Some of these will pick up once the rain comes and others will not. It’s all part of the rich patern of farming and managing an organic holding and as you can imagine it is both rewarding and difficult in equal measures.Thinking of things to serve at meal times can be challenging in this heat. As you know we try to eat outside as much as possible, partly to enjoy some time off in the beautiful surroundings and not just work in them.Menu ideas for this weekOnion tarte tatin, one of my favourite supper dishes, serve it with salad and sunshineUse some garlic scapes and fresh marjoram in with the onions to give it a more Mediterranean vibeSteak sandwiches with fresh homemade onion rings, the fresh onions have such a fabulous sweet flavour.
