The nights are drawing in so I feel it perfectly acceptable to mention the fast approaching big day “Christmas Day!!”You know my love of the festive period and my love of a bit of organisation. Well these two can happily collide. The end of September beginning of October is the perfect time to start your planning.

Now it goes without saying that you need to order your Christmas feast from us here at the Christmas Farm. Everything from the tree, a boned and rolled organic free range turkey joint, stick of sprouts and a homemade matured Christmas pudding.

So what’s next on the prep list?    Presents.  We don’t go wild here on the farm, it’s much more about the feast for us. Lunch mid afternoon is a treat in itself but we do love the tradition of a Christmas stocking and a few presents to open waiting underneath the tree. We are quite a practical family and useful presents are the ones best received and homemade sweets and treats.

So if you are a present maker, it’s good to get a plan of what you are going to make, edibles often need to be made not long before the giving but chutneys, jams and alcohol can and often need to be made well in advance.

I’ll post some good recipes for the kind of presents I make, I’ve made the piccalilli this week. It needs plenty of time to mature, but it’s a fantastic present for any foodie in your family.

Plenty of recipe ideas on our website
