It’s snowing, the fire is on and the cats are sleeping on a blanket on the sofa. I wish every evening was as peaceful as this.
Is it the calm before the storm, with only 2 weekends to go before Christmas. I’m in full mince pie and icing Christmas cakes mode…..
We tend not to buy a lot of Christmas presents but really look forward to having a big feast with family, meeting up with friends and generally not working to much over the festive period.
We’ve still got our staff Christmas “do” next week. We do a secret Santa where you have to hand make a gift or buy something from a charity shop for under £5. Everyone here is obviously into food so the buffet spread is a real feast.
I’m particularly looking forward to Malcolm’s homemade meat pie, but the puds are pretty delicious too. It is very odd seeing us all in real clothes because at this time of year it’s all waterproofs and many many layers. It’s lovely for the team to get together with partners and kids and have a bit of a laugh when the pressure is on at this time of year.
Beccy has been very persuasive and I have given her my rich fruit cake recipe for the website. I hope you’ll have a go at it.
It makes a great Christmas cake but also a really good present. Really nice with cheese.
