Now this sort of dry cold is the sort of winter I can really enjoy. It’s the wet and mud and grey skies that I dislike.
These last few days, albeit finger stingingly cold, have been bright and clear. It is really beautiful with a thick layer of frost on the ground and the sun so bright glistening in the frost.
It’s hearty, hot meals and fires on here at Christmas farm.
We always have meatballs on Christmas Eve and they will be available in the shop freezer. I like to make a back up lasagna or chilli too, just to put in the freezer in case you have extra visitors or you can’t be bothered to cook one night or even plan it into the meal plan.
Menu Ideas for the week…..
Hearty beef stew with herby dumplings, a great one pot meal that will hold so dinner time can be a bit flexible
Tomato tarte tatin. I know I’m a big fan of a tarte tatin but this one with tomatoes is delicious and with fresh rosemary and a few shavings of strong cheese this makes a great dinner party dish too.
Root veg chilli
Shredded spicy savoury white cabbage with beef mince
Onion soup. So good in the cold weather with cheese toast
Quiche. Make ahead and freeze if it’s not needed so you can use it later over the festive period.
Stewed fruit crumble with thick double cream
I hope you have a great week.
Best wishes
Beth
