Christmas Farm melons!

We are all busy in the gardens clearing away the summer crops, mulching out beds and tidying up poly tunnels.

We have lots and lots of fabulous greens and roots in the ground and the taste of these is amazing but the one thing that has been out of this world are the melons that Joe has grown this year. I’ve never tasted anything so gorgeous. We are definitely growing them again next year. We have been putting them in the fruit boxes so if you thing they have come from miles away, think again. Christmas Farm melons!

We grow an enormous amount of veg and fruit here. So many varieties and somethings you have probably never even heard of. We’re planning on putting in some more camping paddocks for next year so you could book and come and stay here at Christmas farm and enjoy the magic of the place yourself.I am clinging into the bright sunshine of these autumnal days. We’ve all put on at least one extra layer of clothing which is on and off when you’re working hard, warm one minute cool the next. The days are shorter but the light is still good. I’m not quite ready for more wintery food and still like a bit of fresh saladie veg. With this in mind we are still eating fresh raw salads with hot and tasty meaty meals.Menu ideas for this week.Beef chilli served in hot fluffy flatbreads with a grated slaw of beetroot and carrot and salsa.Toad in the hole with onion gravy and steamed greensSteak pasties with a crispy crunchy salad of diced veg, like cucumber, tomatoes, courgette, onions, grated carrot and apple in a mustard dressing.Potato and courgette soup with homemade breadFruity muffins for breakfast or lunch boxes.
