We are slowing down, regrouping and generally breathing in the cooling air. That’s how it feels here on the farm.

We had a very successful “Potato day” and show cased our fabulous varieties of potatoes grown here on the farm. Still the farm machinery for the kids to climb on was the biggest hit!  These days are a huge amount of work and we really appreciate it when so many of you come along, I do know it’s not possible for some folks to make it with all of life’s commitments.

Bigger quantities of lots of the varieties are available to buy and can be delivered with your box, just get in touch. You’ll also will be seeing them in your veg box delivery over the coming months too.

We are really gearing up now for Christmas and I know that most folks have ordered but if you still haven’t please don’t leave it too late because once it’s gone it’s gone. There is a staggered invoice and payment option too.

We’ve had some fantastic pictures of what you are cooking with the produce you buy form us, I’ve been sharing them on our Facebook page. We’d love to see more. Everyone who posts and tags us on social media will get a free hot drink voucher to redeem in the shop. Keeping it simple but still healthy, tasty and satisfying.Menu ideasCreamy greens pasta.Fry an onion  in a pan with a little oil and garlic until soft and it begins to caramelise. Add your shredded greens or diced fennel and a little water and cook until until wilted.Cook the pasta to the packet instructions and drain but keep a little of the cooking liquid.Add the cooked pasta to the greens and add a big dollop of cream cheese. Mix and add a little of the reserved pasta water to loosen if needed. Season with salt and pepper.Pork casseroleI’m sure you have a favourite casserole recipe that you usually make with beef, well substitute the beef for the diced pork. The BBC has some lovely recipes if you want to try something new but a goulash or a stroganoff is perfect with pork too.Beef olivesUsing the minute steaks. Serve it with some creamy polenta or celeriac mash.Carrot and chilli soup with cheese sconesOnion tart with homemade coleslawCabbage and lentil in an Italian tomato sauceWinter spiced fruit compote. Great for a pudding or as a breakfast with oats or yogurt or baked in muffins as a pick up and go breakfast or snack.
