Beth’s Blog – we’re all a bit bunged up but the sunshine is on its way !!!

Hello everyone. We’ve had a cold going around the farm this week. It’s bound to happen with people going out and about a bit more and seeing people again. We’re busy lambing and calving so having a cold is a bit of a nuisance. If you have got colds at your house here’s my cold remedy…..

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Mix this all together in a mug and top up with boiling water.

I have one first thing when you get up. It really helps a head cold. Especially if you’re going out into a cold damp morning.

I’m itching to cut the grass, it’s one of my favourite things to do, but I’m holding off. It really hasn’t grown much and I feel I’d just be recreational fuel burning for my own entertainment. Even if it would look at lot tidier and that would really please me.

There are plenty of jobs, that I’m not so fond of to do. The whole team is involved with some sort of tidy up at the moment. The last of the storm damage is finally tidied away.
It’s much nicer to look out and not see the damage anymore.

Menu ideas for this week

Roast butternut squash and blue cheese risotto

Creamy squash and carrot soup

Broccoli Quiche

Cheese and bacon hot pot (that’s a recipe from Malcolm the butcher)

It’s a pimped up dauphinoise. I like it with bacon layered on the top so it crisps up nicely. You could add veg to this or serve it with salad or coleslaw. Our Becs loves it with plenty of cream, garlic and thyme alongside her steak & greens.

Beef stir fry with sticky rice. ( I’m using beef steaks thinly sliced to make them go much further)

Turmeric egg fried rice

Take care everyone and it’s looking like sunshine this weekend.
Pop down to the shop for a coffee and a sit in the sun !!
See you around.
