We keep a mix of various native breeds of sheep which include Dorset, Jacob, Suffolk, Cheviot, South Down, Ryeland, as well as the more common mules.
Like the cattle, these native breeds are adapted to surviving on a 100% grass-fed diet and produce lambs that mature at different times of the year, which allows us to include lamb throughout the year in our organic boxes.
The ewes spend almost all the year outside except for a couple of weeks in the run up to lambing which allows us to keep an extra eye on them.
We occasionally select animals that produce hogget and mutton, so it’s not always just lamb in the boxes!
